First Church's own Veteran's Organization, American Legion Post 38, is a unique Service Club, created by former First Church member Rev. George Dinwiddie. With limited ways to raise funds, Post 38 struggles to meet it’s mission to expand it’s Service Projects. To contribute
cost free call J. R. Pervine Post 38 Finance Officer, at 765-474-5380 or the Post Adjutant at 765-463-5277. E-mail wlpost38@gmail.com

Here is how you may help: Regardless of where you live, you can help us raise funds  when you buy your groceries by purchasing a Kroger/Payless gift card from us for $5. Your gift card will immediately have $5 worth of groceries or services on it (this includes Kroger/Payless gas & purchases at Kroger’s Pharmacy!). Take your gift card to your Kroger/Payless store and load more money on it (using your credit card, cash, or check) BEFORE you start shopping. When your cashier finishes ringing up your order, just swipe your gift card (like you would a credit card) and pay for your groceries. After you have purchased your groceries, your balance will show on your receipt.

This is a “gift card” that you don’t throw away; when the balance gets low, reload the card. Every time we reach $5,000 or more in reloads (as a group, not just you individually), we will receive a rebate check for 5% of the total amount (5% of $5,000 is $250 for us!). So, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3 to make money for our Service Projects!

1. Purchase a Kroger/Payless Gift card for $5 by calling  (765-474-5380).
2. Reload your card with additional value before you shop at Kroger/Payless.
    a. You may reload your card with any amount up to $500 at one time.
    b. You may pay for your reloads with cash, check or major credit card.
    c. You will need to reload your card at the register BEFORE your purchases are scanned
in a separate transaction at the register or at the service desk.
    d. The balance on your card will show at the bottom of your receipt.
You may also obtain your balance at the customer service desk, the register, by
    calling 866-822-6252, or at http://www.gcbalance.com
3. Every four weeks, Kroger/Payless looks at how much has been spent as a group. If there are $5,000 or more in reloads, Kroger/Payless will send us a check for 5% of the amount and we start adding up our purchases for the next four-week cycle. If the ammount purchased is less than $5,000 worth of items in a given four-week cycle, the total will roll over into the next four-week cycle.
These cards can also make great gifts – Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, for students going off to college, etc. Buy one for your teenage shopper to use for groceries or gas – it’s much better than loaning them your credit card! After you gift these folks, encourage them to reload and continue to use the card to earn dollars for our Service Projects.

Besides being accepted at all Kroger/Payless Stores (and their Pharmacies) throughout the U.S., your gift card can be used at Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Fry’s & Fry’s Marketplace, King Soopers, Dillons, Smith’s Food & Drug, City Market, QFC, Food 4 Less, Owen’s, FoodsCo. Hilander,  Cala-Bell, Baker’s, JayC, Fred Meyer Jewelers, Littman & Barclay Jewelers.

*Any more questions, please call J. R. Pervine Post 38 Finance Officer, at 765-474-5380 or Post Adjutant at 765-463-5277. Post 38 is a Not-for-profit organization and donations to it may be tax free.
