Lafayette Urban Ministry coordinates Jubilee Christmas, which is a program sponsored by many of the LUM member churches and other community organizations that organize events for local families at several different host sites. Using this model, we maximize participation of many churches and organizations – and serve many more low-income families. For 40 years, Jubilee Christmas has made parents the heroes on Christmas morning with their children.

Jubilee Christmas invites selected families a host site where they receive three toys for each child ages 0-12, a gift certificate for each teenager, a food certificate, and a plate of cookies for their holiday dinners.

Help Cindy Lou Who grow the Grinch’s heart three times by helping with LUM Jubilee Christmas!

Each year, First Church hosts LUM Jubilee to help make Christmas a little more joyful for children and families in our community. This year’s LUM Jubilee will be on Saturday, December 10 from 9 am until noon.

Volunteers in a variety of positions and tasks are needed to help make this event even more special for the children:

  • Serve as a host on December 10 from 8:30 am – 12 pm.
  • Bring in two dozen cookies (no nuts please). Cookies may be dropped off to the church office December 5 – 7 from 9 am – 4 pm.
  • Help setting up toys in the Activity Center.
  • Donate food certificates and gift cards.
  • Donate toys for children ages 0-12 years old. Toys on the FUMC wish list may be ordered through Amazon, but must arrive before Monday, December 5, to FUMC, 1700 West State Street, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
