NEW BUILDING COMMITTEE (THE N.B.C.)
CONDUCTS FINAL INPUT FORUMS ABOUT PRO-POSED CHURCH ADDITION.
Chairman, Dave Ridings laid out the rationale for building now.
1) First and foremost, an expanded facility will allow us to impact more lives for Jesus Christ.
2) Second, an expanded facility will allow us to accommodate the growth that is occurring in our WIRED service.
3) Third, an expanded facility will allow us to accommodate further growth in our education department.
4) Fourth, building a new sanctuary will free up our current CLC worship area for its intended use: fellowship, sports, community events and congregational dinners.
5) Fifth, an expanded facility will attract those people who are looking for an awe inspiring sanctuary.
6) Finally, an expanded building will enable our music ministry to grow.
After Mr. Ridings listed these reasons for building, Suzie Kline walked the congregation through the two proposed drawings. Option one is estimated to cost $3.4 million. It would mean the relocating some of our offices upstairs. It would not provide a new mu-sic wing and would not include but a couple of new classrooms.
Option two is estimated to cost $4.3 million and will allow us to complete just about everything, including our music wing, maintaining all of our offices on the main floor, providing perhaps 6 to 8 new classrooms (depending upon the size of the classes needed).
After Suzie Kline’s presentation, Mr. Dick Beall, our church consultant from Church Growth Services out of South Bend, received verbal and written comments from those in attendance. The feeling of all the Forums was very positive. People felt that the NBC has listened to the concerns expressed earlier in the year, and responded accordingly with a reduced size of a sanctuary, and reduced costs of the project.
In early December the entire congregation will be given a questionnaire to fill out in wor-ship. Then Mr. Beall will write a comprehensive report on whether we are ready to proceed with a capital campaign to raise the funds necessary for completing our church building.
