SCHOLARSHIPS*

First Church offers two scholarships for college or university students. 
(Application forms are available at the Church ,or you may copy and print the one included in the description of each scholarship)

Application due date is March 27, 2008, 5 pm. Provide a letter of reference from your current church pastor, and a transcript of at least your previous 2 full years of academic work (high school/college). Applications must be submitted with the original and 5 copies, including all supporting documents. Applications that do not follow these directions will not be eligible for consideration.
Scholarship award notification will be no later than April 7. Award presentation will be Sunday, April 20, at the First Church 10:30 am worship service. Attendance of award recipients at the presentation is expected.


The D. H. Patterson Scholarship honors the memory of a long-time member of our congregation, the West Lafayette community, and the faculty of Purdue University.  The recipient must be a student at Purdue University, pursuing a four-year degree.  Former recipients may re-apply each year, up to three times.  Preference will be given to an applicant who has been active in the ministries of Wesley Foundation and/or First United Methodist Church.

The Robert E. Straszheim Scholarship was established by his family to assist Protestant students who are in preparation for full-time Christian work.  The applicant must be a student at an accredited college, university, or seminary.  Former recipients may re-apply upon having an academic record showing competency and achievement in the field of study.
