Dear First Church Family,
We are entering the final stages of our sanctuary and activity center renovations, and we want to thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and support throughout this important project. As we move toward completion, we’ll need your help and understanding as we shift worship spaces and complete the last critical pieces of work—including new carpeting and audio/visual improvements.
Here’s what to expect in the coming weeks:
Current Work in Progress
•July 19 (Friday): Our AV booth in the sanctuary will be reassembled, and additional sanctuary renovation work will continue.
•July 20 (Saturday): Carpet installation in the narthex will be completed.
Transition to Activity Center for Worship
•July 27 (Sunday) at 3:30 PM: We’ll need many hands to help move furniture, worship items, and equipment from the sanctuary into the Activity Center, which will serve as our temporary worship space.
Final Renovation Work
•July 28 – August 1: The old carpet in the sanctuary will be removed, and the floor will be prepped for the new installation.
•August 4 – 5: A new hearing loop system will be installed in the sanctuary—this will significantly enhance the worship experience for individuals using hearing aids or assistive listening devices.
•August 6 – 15: Brand-new carpet will be installed in the Sanctuary.
Return to the Sanctuary
•August 16 (Saturday): We’ll need help again from the congregation to move everything back into the sanctuary and prepare the space for worship.
This is a big moment in the life of our church building, and we are so close to the finish line. These improvements—both seen and unseen—will help make our spaces more welcoming, accessible, and beautiful for years to come.
Please mark your calendars and plan to lend a hand if you’re able on July 27 and August 16. More details and sign-ups will be shared in the coming weeks.
With gratitude,
Don Caddy
