‘We’re Out’ to lift up our transgender community
Date: Saturday, November 22
Time: 1:00-5:00 PM
Location: First Church
‘We’re Out,’ our annual event to lift up our LGBTQIA+ community, this year will include a focus on our transgender community and examine how to be an ally.
Participants will hear their stories, learn about their hurdles and consider ways to support them as well as the families and friends who love them.
The conference will run from 1 to 5 PM on Saturday, November 22, with panel discussions, music and storytelling in the First Church Narthex. A few organizations also are expected provide short remarks:
-Mental Health America
-Trinity Haven
-The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
-GenderNexus, which offers licensed social workers who help with medical care coordination,
providing a safe place for one-on-one counseling, education and advocacy.
Information tables in the Activity Center also will represent these groups and more than a dozen
others such as:
-Pride Lafayette
-PFLAG, Parents and Families of Lesbians and Gay
-Greater Lafayette Indivisible (think voter registration)
-Diversity Roundtable
-Greater Lafayette ACLU
-Community service organizations
This is the fifth year for this gathering sponsored by First Church. We are pleased to partner with We
All Belong and Pride Lafayette in this year’s event.
