Dear First Church Family,

As we move into this season of gratitude and generosity, I want to share a special opportunity for us to support families in our community who are experiencing food insecurity.

Through our education partnerships with Edgelea ElementaryKlondike Kids Club, and our Freedom School scholars, we’ve learned that many families are feeling the strain of rising food costs and reduced benefits. Nearly 70% of our Freedom School scholars qualify for free or reduced meals, and similar needs exist among the families we serve throughout the year.

To respond with compassion and care, First Church is partnering with Food Finders Food Bank to provide supplemental family food boxes to these households. Each box includes shelf-stable staples such as:

  • Pasta, sauce, and canned chicken or tuna
  • Canned vegetables and fruit
  • Macaroni & cheese
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Cereal and shelf-stable milk
  • Ramen and other quick meals

We are currently purchasing 72 boxes to distribute through our education ministries — and your contributions can make this possible.

If you would like to help, please make a donation to the First Church Mission Fund and note “Family Food Boxes” in the memo line. Every gift will go directly toward this effort, maximizing our impact through Food Finders’ bulk purchasing power.

For those who prefer to give non-perishable items, we are also collecting food donations in the Narthex for the Tippecanoe United Food Pantry, operated by Church Women United.

Together, we can help make sure every table in our community has enough.
Thank you for your ongoing generosity and faith in action.

With gratitude,
Rev. Duane Carlisle (he/him)
First United Methodist Church, West Lafayette
