A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of our 4th Annual We’re Out: LGBTQ+ Youth Mental Health Awareness Summit on Friday, October 12. We are especially grateful to Mental Health America Wabash Valley Region (WVR) for their partnership in planning and facilitating the event, and to INUMC Diversity, Missions, & Justice Ministries for the IU Health Grant that made it possible.

We welcomed about 60 attendees, including LGBTQ+ youth, parents, and allies—your presence is the heart of this event, and we are so thankful for your engagement and stories. It was inspiring to see community members come together to support one another and share experiences that foster understanding and empathy.

We also extend our gratitude to our community partners—ACORN Players, Law Office of Samantha M. Joslyn, Pride Lafayette Youth Group, Purdue College of Education, and St. Andrew UMC—for their presence and for providing valuable resources. Your commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ youth and promoting mental health awareness makes a significant difference in our community.

A special thanks goes to our guests Sheeza, DJ Powder, and Veronica Fox for bringing joy and energy to the day. Their performances and insights added a dynamic touch to the event, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

As we reflect on this year’s summit, we are excited to continue building a supportive community where everyone feels valued and heard. We look forward to carrying on the We’re Out tradition and creating more opportunities for connection and dialogue.
