Dear Sisters and Brothers of FUMC,

After, almost 38 years of ministry at FUMC, I am announcing my official third and final retirement from the staff. My roles have been varied and I have loved each phase of ministry.

Many of you, have blessed and nurtured me personally, and spiritually. As a family of faith, First United Methodist Church, has supported and nurtured me as I transitioned from lay ministry to ordained ministry. I would not be who I have become without the prayer, love, guidance, encouragement, and acceptance of this congregation. You saw possibilities in me. You lifted me up and you mentored me as I entered seminary and began the process of consecration and ordination. I will be forever grateful, that God lead us to you in 1981.

Even as I look forward to more time to be with family and friends, this decision has been difficult for me to contemplate. I guess this is why it took three attempts. After so many years of service and ministry as a pastor of F.U.M.C., there is a sadness at the thought of no longer being on staff as one of your pastors. However, for the time being, I plan to continue my volunteer roles in ministry as Director of Klondike Kids Club, and Coordinator of the Edgelea Backpack Club.

I look forward to the day when we be physically together in fellowship and worship. What a joy, when I can thank each of you for the part you have played in accompanying me on this journey of faith.

May God continue to bless each of you and this church as we continue to offer God’s abundant grace and love to all. You will be the light on the hill for others, as you were for me.

Shalom,
Pastor Denny
