Gender Diversity Panel Conversation

Sponsored by PFLAG Lafayette/Tippecanoe and First Church

3:00 PM inside First Church

There are a lot of misconceptions being thrown around these days about gender. Many of us lack familiarity with gender diverse people and that disconnect can breed fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Getting to know gender diverse people is the best way to quell our fears and learn that we are all just humans trying to human.

PFLAG Lafayette/Tippecanoe County and First United Methodist Church West Lafayette are hosting a panel discussion on what is means to be gender diverse, including transgender and non-binary. Hear directly from gender diverse people about their experiences, including both struggles and joys. Get the facts about the history of gender diversity, pronouns, gender dysphoria. Hear answers to common misconceptions, what the medical community’s position is, and how you can be an ally.

First United Methodist Church West Lafayette is a reconciling congregation, which means that we have undergone a strategic process and decided by an overwhelming majority vote as a church body to affirm the need for inclusion of all people in our church and community. Our church welcomes all people, regardless of a person’s sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, race, ability, bank balance, or background.
