Join us on Sunday, May 19, for Pentecost Sunday! We have two services: 9 AM First Up Worship and 11 AM Celebrate Worship.

We sometimes call Pentecost Sunday “the birth of the church”—the day we celebrate the beginnings of a movement of God’s Spirit that spread around the world in a unique and powerful way. Symbols of Pentecost include flames, wind and descending doves in red, yellow orange and white.

This year, in addition to these themes we will celebrate a new birth in the United Methodist Church with the action of the Holy Spirit and its work through the General Conference decisions that opened new doors of inclusion and world-wide unity. We will add the colors of the rainbow to our traditional red this year! First Church has much to celebrate as a leader of inclusion in our area and in the Indiana Conference.

Church leaders will wear our First Church t-shirts. The sanctuary will be decorated with red and rainbows. Lafayette Jefferson High School Choir will perform a special number. We plan to have a baptism. You won’t want to miss out on this special day!
