During our Consecration Sunday lunch on October 20, 2024, Talitha Huber, our new leader of Family Ministry, shared her passion for youth and children’s ministry at First Church. She sees a strong desire among local families to invest in our community. By offering consistent, uplifting educational experiences and opportunities to serve, we can create a welcoming space for everyone to connect.
To better understand our church families’ needs, Talitha conducted an online survey. The results revealed a strong interest in community building, recreational outings, regular Sunday services, engaging ministries, service projects, and meaningful scripture study for kids.

Talitha presented a three-phase plan for developing our Family Ministry:
- Phase 1: Continue Kids Church, aligning topics with adult services at 9 AM and 11 AM, while introducing nursery care from 9 AM to noon on Sundays. We’ll also work on building our staff and volunteer lists.
- Phase 2: Strengthen relationships and foster community among families.
- Phase 3: Introduce semi-regular events, outings, and scripture studies that support discipleship and growth for our children.
Talitha also announced an all-church Christmas program on December 22 at 11 AM, culminating our Advent season with a children’s choir and performances for all ages. Rehearsals begin on November 10, each Sunday from 10 to 11 AM—mark your calendars!
In her call to action, Talitha emphasized the need for support from our First Church family to grow and serve future generations. She invites everyone to volunteer in the nursery or help with Kids Church and Sunday School. Let’s foster intergenerational connections by reaching out to others in our community. Financial contributions are also encouraged to expand our Family Ministries at First Church.
Together, we can create a nurturing environment for our children and families to flourish. Thank you for your support!
