Pentecost Sunday on June 8 was a joyful and meaningful day in the life of First Church. We gathered to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church. During worship, we recognized and celebrated our youth who completed Confirmation class with a special ceremony. The class leading up to this moment was guided by the Family Ministry Team under the direction of Family Ministry Instructional Coordinator, Talitha Huber.

We were also honored to welcome several new members into our church community, and some of our confirmands and new members have graciously offered to share their testimonials with you.

Meet John & Steve Lewandowski | First Church Members

For the past few years, we had been on a journey looking for a church to re-charge our spiritual batteries and feel a sense of community and acceptance. We found First United Methodist Church on our first visit late last year. We have been together for 26 years, married since 2014. Steve is an RN and has been with Franciscan Hospital for many years and currently works in the Wound Care Department. John retired from Purdue University last year after 25 years of service with the Krannert Graduate School of Management. We enjoy traveling and spending summer-time by the pool. We look forward to our time with FUMC in whatever capacity we can to better serve our church and local community.
