From Pastor Duane & the First Church Staff Team

Dear Church,

We’re excited to try something new this summer—beginning on Pentecost Sunday (May 24).

As schedules shift and life fills with travel, family time, and the rhythms of the season, we’re moving to one unified worship service at 11:00 AM. We’re calling this summer-only experience, “Summer Vibes,” and we hope it will bring us together in a fresh and creative way. It’s not “First Up” or “Celebrate,” but something new shaped just for this season.

This vision grows directly out of what we experienced on Easter Sunday—the vitality, the energy, the fullness of our community all in one room. So many voices, styles, and expressions came together in a way that felt alive, joyful, and deeply meaningful. That spirit—vibrant, diverse, and Spirit-filled—is what we hope to carry into the summer.

“Summer Vibes” will reflect the richness of who we are. Some weeks you may hear organ and piano, other weeks a praise band, and often a blend of both. You’ll see different leaders, different expressions, and yes—sometimes your pastors in robes, sometimes in jeans. Our hope is simple: that there will be something for everyone, and that together we create a space where all can connect more deeply with God.

This rhythm also makes room for the fullness of summer life, while keeping worship at the heart of who we are.

As we go, we’d love your input—what speaks to you, what draws you closer to God, what you’d love to see more of, and what would you like to offer to our worship.

We can’t wait to see what God does with this.

Summer is almost here. Let’s worship together.

With excitement and gratitude,

Pastor Duane & the FUMCWL Staff Team
